I had a truly lovely visit with my mother. While, like all mother-daughter relationships, we don't always see eye-to-eye, it was really nice to spend that quality time together.
That said, the most entertaining parts are always the least endearing bits - those comments that only a mother would make, and only a daughter would roll her eyes at.
Some of my weekend highlights:
On marriage
"So Jen, do you think you'll ever get married again?"
"Maybe Mom. I don't think marriage was the issue there."
On my failed relationship
"Didn't you kind of see that coming?"
On dating
"Why don't you go out with ... *insert name of every male friend here * ... he sounds nice."
On living in sin
"Do you think you'll ever bother to live with a guy again without marrying him?"
On my "type"
"Your father and I always thought you'd settle down with a much older man."
